You were very restless last night - nobody got much sleep. A midwife called Ellie came by in the morning to check on you. She suggested the reason you won't settle may because you're not getting enough milk. You mum's trying her best, but the infection and blood loss have really knocked her back. Under Ellie's advice, we're going to try topping you up with some formula.
Dr Katie came to see us later on, and said the same thing. She's keeping a special eye on your progress because you're not even her patient. She's put together a feeding plan for us to follow over the next few weeks. She showed us how to feed you from a tiny cup, after which you seemed much happer. Your mum and I are feeling a lot more positive now. Dr Katie also mentioned that the hospital had identified your mum's infection - it's some super rare, obscure bacteria called Globicatella Snaguinis. Apparently there have been very few cases of it, though one was from a man who was bitten by a cat - I'll be having words with Bean later! it's responding well to the antibiotics, so they're going to switch her to oral rather than IV. Maybe we'll be able to go home tomorrow? We tried feeding you ourselves at 2pm, and you've been quiet and well behaved all afternoon. Hopefully this is a positive sign. Grandma Jandma offered to come by today, but we're all so tired that we asked her to let us rest for now. I'm still not sold on the name Grandma Jandma, but she's pretty insistent.
